What is it? Well, it came from wood chips, got put in a pile, and started composting. Why don't we call it compost? Because it broke down in an uncontrolled environment, it does not meet the rigerous standards to call it "Compost" - as we do not have temperature readings or other historical data for it.

How do I use this product? This product is a great topsoil alternative. It does not contain food waste or manure. Only wood chips, yard waste, and other woody material. As such, it contains far less plant nutrients than our other blends, but still packs a good bit of basic building blocks into its structure.

This is a great blend to bulk out new raised bed builds, fill a low spot in your garden, or to take the first step in remediating badly damaged/scraped landscapes.

PCC encourages this product to be used as a substrate and mixed with our other compost blends, rather than using it as a nutrient boost on its own.
