Executive Director

Lead a thriving nonprofit at the intersection of sustainability, community, and innovation.

At Partridge Creek Compost, we’re building a circular economy from the ground up. By transforming food waste into healthy soil, we’re strengthening the resilience of communities across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

 

We’re currently seeking a strategic, hands-on Executive Director to lead our organization through its next stage of growth and sustainability.

 

📍 Location: Ishpeming, Michigan (Hybrid Remote)

💼 Type: Full-Time | Flexible Schedule

💰 Compensation: $40,000/year to start (with opportunity for rapid growth)

The Opportunity

Partridge Creek Compost operates Michigan’s first fully Part-115 compliant composting facility and the Upper Peninsula’s only curbside compost pickup service. With a strong operational foundation, growing customer base, and deep community partnerships, we’re positioned for expansion and long-term stability.

 

The Executive Director will provide strategic and financial leadership, strengthen partnerships, and advance PCC’s mission to reduce waste, regenerate soil, and build a resilient local food system.

 

This is a unique opportunity for a results-oriented leader to shape the future of an established yet entrepreneurial nonprofit at a critical inflection point.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Expand and diversify revenue through partnerships, grants, and earned income.

  • Oversee operations, compliance, and finances to maintain organizational stability.

  • Lead and support a small team while fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.

  • Represent PCC publicly through outreach, communications, and partnerships.

  • Develop and execute strategies that scale organics diversion and community engagement.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 1–5 years of leadership or management experience (nonprofit or small business preferred).

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Financial and operational acumen; experience managing budgets and compliance.

  • Commitment to sustainability, waste reduction, and circular economy principles.
